When it seems that our sorrow is too great to be borne, let us think of the great family of the heavy-hearted into which our grief has given us entrance, and inevitably, we will feel about us, their arms and their understanding.

Grief Becomes Us: An online three-hour contemplative writing retreat
(no writing or meditation experience necessary)

Meditation offers us a practice where we can be intimate, kind and steady with ourselves. Developing and strengthening contemplative practice during times of grief, loss, heartbreak and sorrow offers us a softer interior place to land, can offer us a shelter within ourselves to experience all that is happening on the inside and outside to make room for just how it is—with what is often cast out, cast away, the unspeakable, un-witnessed moments—and to utilize creativity and language to turn our attention to the heart of the heart of our experience. We may not have direct answers but listening to these questions may create room to find out what really is most important. To explore this in community has the chance to undo a kind of aloneness that often is healing.

This meditation and writing immersion is an opportunity to be with what we know and what we don't know yet. When we shift from fixing to tending to our heartbreak something perhaps that has gone unknown or invisible can be made more visible and known.

In our time together each session there will be guided meditation, some periods of silence, ample time to write from prose and poetry prompts and to share our writing with each other. (There will be a 20-person cap.)

Cost: $85-125 sliding scale per session
